Our demands
We are gathering these demands to understand the full weight of what is being asked of tired bodies — and to make it impossible to ignore. These demands may, in time, be submitted — to employers, institutions, and anyone responsible for the conditions that produce exhaustion.
THE RIGHT TO REST WITHOUT JUSTIFICATION
No person should be required to explain, qualify, or earn their rest. Rest is not a reward for completed labour, but a basic condition for living.
THE RIGHT TO BE UNAVAILABLE
No person should be expected to answer, perform, produce, recover, or remain reachable at all times. Unavailability must be recognized as a legitimate condition, not a failure of commitment.
THE ABOLITION OF MANUFACTURED URGENCY
Deadlines, messages, meetings, and tasks that create unnecessary anxiety must be identified, questioned, and refused. The Union demands the right to ask: who made this urgent, and for whom?
RECOGNITION OF UNPAID AND INVISIBLE LABOUR
Care, cleaning, emotional support, domestic maintenance, administration, remembering, organizing, and being available are forms of labour. They must be recognized, supported, and no longer treated as infinite resources.
REST INFRASTRUCTURE IN WORKPLACES, SCHOOLS, AND PUBLIC SPACE
Every institution should provide protected spaces where bodies can pause without having to consume, perform, justify, or disappear. Rest must be designed into the environment, not hidden in corridors, bathrooms, lockers, or exhaustion.
THE RIGHT TO SLOW RESPONSE
Digital communication must not produce a permanent state of anxious availability. Slow replies, delayed decisions, and non-immediate responses must be normalized.
THE RIGHT TO QUESTION PRODUCTIVITY
Not everything needs to be optimized, measured, improved, accelerated, or completed. The Union demands the right to refuse unnecessary productivity and to classify certain tasks as: Can Wait, Tomorrow, or Never Needs to Happen.
COLLECTIVE REPRESENTATION OF EXHAUSTION
Tiredness should not remain a private shame. Members must be able to report exhaustion collectively, submit demands anonymously, and authorize the Union to speak to institutions on their behalf.
